News Update: Two Kaduna Senators Shehu Sani, Suleiman Hunkuyi Quit APC

The he senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Suleiman Hunkuyi, his counterpart from Kaduna North Senatorial District, has left the ruling party as well.

Tom Maiyashi, Chairman of the Akida faction and Ja’afaru Abas Ibrahim, legal adviser of the Restoration Group, announced the decision of the two groups at a joint press conference in Kaduna on Friday.

Senators Sani and Hunkuyi, who have been engaged in a long-running rivalry with Nasir el-Rufai, Governor of the state, belong to the ‘Akida’ and ‘Restoration Group’ factions of the party respectively.

“This joint press conference is the culmination of extensive reviews and consultations over the state of the All Progressives, Congress (APC) in Kaduna state as well as in the nation,” Maiyashi said.

“As you will appreciate, groups such as ours that had been on the frontline of the efforts to keep our party along the lines of survival, accountability and integrity, will be diligent in ensuring that whatever steps we take, are consistent with our high sense of responsibility.

“We are satisfied that the positions we have arrived at are in the best interests of our members and the ongoing efforts to create options and strategies that will rid our nation of undeserved and avoidable challenges.

“Members of our two groups have decided to leave the APC because it is incapable of accommodating and responding to well-meaning dissent, criticism and demands for inclusiveness and internal democracy.”

The two groups advised their teeming members to formalise their withdrawal from the APC.

Maiyasshi did not disclose the party to be joined by the two groups, but he confirmed that discussions were going on with “political parties that share their values and principles”.

“We want to commend the resilience and commitment of our members in the face of institutionalised exclusion, marginalisation and abuse. We urge them all to keep faith,” he said.

Ekiti Guber: PDP Accuses APC, Fayemi of Importing Fake Policemen, Duplicate Ballot Papers

July 13, 2018

Press Statement
…Says Ekiti People Are Fully Rallied for Resistance

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) FB_IMG_1530396447408alerts that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the Ekiti state governorship election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, are clothing thugs imported from Imo and states neighbouring to Ekiti, with fake police uniform to unleash terror on voters on Saturday.

The party also alerts of the collusion between compromised officials of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) PLC and top officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to print matching sensitive voting materials including ballot papers with similar serial numbers to enable scientific rigging of the election for the APC.

Similarly, the PDP exposes plots by the APC to use the compromised policemen to offer each voter N10,000 ritual money at polling centers to vote for the APC.

Furthermore the PDP questions why the police personnel detailed to Governor Ayo Fayose have been stripped to five while invading APC governors, such as Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello are individually allowed to move around the state with squads of over 50 policemen and soldiers.

The PDP is already aware of plots to detail the fake policemen to PDP strongholds to harass voters, attempt to cause confusion, and in the process smuggle in counterfeit result sheets to aid their planned declaration of false results.

Our party also knows how the duplicate ballot papers were produced with the recently installed SDD German Machine in the Lagos factory under direct supervision of some officials (names withheld) who are to deliver them to Dr. Fayemi.

What the APC and Dr. Fayemi do not know is that we have been monitoring their movements and we have the identity and scheduling of the fake policemen as well as details of the couriers and movement of the duplicitous ballot papers.

They do not know that we already discovered the security errors in the fake police uniforms and we have adequately made such known to the people of Ekiti state, who are now fully rallied to expose the impostors and directly bring them to book with every intensity and energy available in a democracy.

Consequently, the PDP cautions the fake policemen and the couriers of the duplicitous ballot papers to note that nobody will come to their rescue when they face the wrath of the people.

Moreover, the recent invasion of the state and manhandling of Governor Ayo Fayose has toughened the people in their resolve to defend their will with every legitimate tool within the ambit of the law.

The PDP therefore cautions INEC officials, electoral observers and security personnel in the election to ensure a free, fair and credible election as the people of Ekiti state will never accept any results that do not directly reflect their already known will in this election.

North Korea’s Kim writes U.S. President Trump And Aknownledge Their First Historical l Meeting

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-Un, has written a note to U.S. President  Donald Trump, describing the American leader as “energetic and extraordinary”.

Trump, in a tweet acknowledging the letter, described it as “a very nice note” adding, “great progress being made’’. “A very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea. Great progress being made!’’ Trump tweeted.

In the letter, dated July 6, Kim recalled the historic meeting between the two leaders in Singapore on June 12, saying it was the start of a meaningful journey. Kim said: “The significant first meeting with Your Excellency and the joint statement that we signed together in Singapore 24 days ago was indeed the start of a meaningful journey.

“I deeply appreciate the energetic and extraordinary efforts made by Your Excellency Mr President for the improvement of relations between the two countries and the faithful implementation of the joint statement.

“I firmly believe that the strong will, sincere efforts and unique approach of myself and Your Excellency Mr President aimed at opening up a new future between the DPRK and the U.S. will surely come to fruition.

“Wishing that the invariable trust and confidence in Your Excellency Mr President will be further strengthened in the future process of taking practical actions. “I extend my conviction that the epochal progress in promoting the DPRK-U.S. relations will bring our next meeting forward’’.

There were reports that North Korea had, rather than dismantled its nuclear programme, satellite images showed that it was actually upgrading its nuclear facilities. Following the reports, Trump had, however, expressed “confidence” that Kim would honour the contract they signed in Singapore. Trump, on Monday, tweeted:

“I have confidence that Kim Jong Un will honour the contract we signed &, even more importantly, our handshake. “We agreed to the denuclearisation of North Korea. “China, on the other hand, maybe exerting negative pressure on a deal because of our posture on Chinese Trade-Hope Not!’’
