President Muhammadu Buhari will on Sunday, depart for the Netherlands to participate in activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), at The Hague.

President Buhari is the only world leader invited to deliver a keynote address during the Solemn Hearing to commemorate the anniversary at Courtroom 1 of the ICC’s Headquarters at The Hague. In buttressing Nigeria’s commitment as a member of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the ICC, the President, as the current anti-corruption champion for the African Union, will use the global platform to reaffirm Nigeria’s support to the fundamental values of the Rome Statute and to the ideals of the ICC.

He will also highlight his administration’s campaign against corruption in Nigeria. After the event at the Courtroom, the President will have a bilateral meeting with the ICC Prosecutor, Ms Fatou Bensouda. President Buhari will attend a dinner hosted by Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji, the President of the ICC who is a Nigerian.

The Nigerian leader, while in The Hague, will meet with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, to discuss bilateral issues such as migration, peace and security, and economic cooperation.

The President and his delegation will have a separate roundtable with some Dutch Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of companies based in Nigeria with a view to urging them to expand their investments, especially in agriculture, oil and gas in Nigeria. President Buhari will also tour the Port of Rotterdam and Shell refinery Pernis, Hoogvliet. On the margins of the President’s visit, Nigeria and the Netherlands will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral consultations.

President Buhari’s delegation to the Netherlands will include Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State; Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Others are the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh; the Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar; the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru; and the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala-Usman

Fayose spoke after voting at his Afao ward unit 001 Saturday at 1:25pm. While commending INEC for the Ekiti election process, Fayose said ” INEC meant well but the process has been hijacked by police. It is a national disaster. “I raised this alarm, that this Ekiti election may be marred by violence, and this is what is happening now. “Majority of my staff have been arrested by the police.

My chief of staff has been arrested. The security agencies have taken over the responsibility of INEC. “

The police authority has refused to pick their call, you cannot reach any one of them. This is sad.

According to him reports ” lkere indicated that they are planning to over-run the place that is the where the governorship candidate of my party hails from. ” There are reports of ballot snatching and votes buying in Ado and other areas across the state.

He, however expressed optimism that his party’s candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola would defeat his APC candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi hands down.

The meeting which held at the conference room of the Deputy Governors Office, Government House, Awka, saw the Deputy Gov. Nkem Okeke, some Commissioners and the Group’s leadership in attendance.

Receiving the consortium on behalf of Gov. Willie Obiano, the Deputy Governor appreciated the leadership of the Group for identifying with the safest state in Nigeria that also boasts the largest market in West Africa. Dr Okeke informed the visiting Group that Anambra State has an Agency that not only Protects and Promotes Investment in the state-ANSIPPA but serves as a one-stop-shop for Investments in the State.

He further stressed that Anambra stands tall in foreign direct investment in Nigeria as the state since the inception of this Government, had attracted about $5b worth of investments covering all sectors of the economy.

The group led by it’s Nigerian Representive, Chief Ikemefuna Eze, included Mr Bob Wang (General Manager, Oriental Golden Promise), Summer YR Xia, Manager, OGP, Yongsheng Su (Deputy General Manager, CCC) and others.

Admitting that “Anambra has the largest market in West Africa”, Mr Wang said this has made the State a popular “choice for Investors”. The General Manager of the company said they were in Anambra with the CCC (China Communications Company) which has other agencies under it like the CCCC Water Transportation; Development Institute; Information Management Centre and Architecture Design Institute; to consider the feasibility for Light Rail Project, Onitsha River Port Development, and General Infrastructure Development for the state. Mr Wang informed that Oriental Golden Promise has the funds for the projects ready. He pointed out that the Coy was currently handling the development of Lagos State Lekki Port Project.

Bob Wang thanked the Governor for receiving them, saying that the success stories of Anambra were echoing in the investment world. He assured that the firm was ready to move into Anambra State by September 2018.

The Team later visited the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) headquarters in Awka.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the Company’s profile and other projects constructed by the company in other African Countries by one of the Group members, Mr Okey Onyekwere.

Breaking: Eventually Prof Kolapo, PDP’s candidate cast his vote

 

After series of try and recorded rejections, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof.

Kolapo Olusola Eleka finally cast his vote.

However, Vanguard has reported that the machine did not reject the card of his wife, Janet. Olusola had arrived at the polling unit at exactly 9.15 a.m. to be accredited and vote, a process which could not hold for him after about 20 minutes.

 

Breaking News :Ekiti election: Voting commences as European Union Appluads Process

INEC Official BAdo Ekiti- Voting has commenced in the Ekiti governorship election as voters turned out in numbers to exercise their civic responsibility.

At Irona , Oke ori omi , St Michel primary schools, Unit 4 at Adebayo area of Ado Ekiti metropolis and voters were conducting themselves in peaceful and orderly manner. At unit 07, 04 and 06 in Oye-Ekiti, voters are on queue waiting to vote.

In the areas visited, the card reader machine have been working well and there are no cases of malfunctioning of the machine.

A voter at Ifaki Ekiti, Kunle Ajibade who just exercised his franchise commended the smooth process of the election. “Yes,i just cast my vote and i am comfortable with the process so far.

Everywhere is peaceful and the police are here. ” I just hope everything will be peaceful till the end” Our correspondent, who is monitoring the poll observed that as early as 7am, voters had moved out to their respective voting points . Voting begin in most of the units at exactly as 8am with INEC Ad-hoc staff accrediting and giving ballot papers to voters. As promised by the Inspector General of Police,Ibrahim Idris , 5 police officers are stationed at each polling units and voting points. Also,men and officers of the Police, Army and other security agencies are seen at different points. At unit 07 in Oye-Ekiti, voters are on queue waiting to vote. As at the time of this report, voting is on going in a peaceful atmosphere.

At Ayegbaju Ward 4, unit 002, the European Union Ambassador in Nigeria, Mr Keti Karlsen hailed the peaceful manner with which the election commenced. Karlsen said : “As at 9.17 am, the election has been peaceful . I have been to five polling units and the process has been credible enough. “This election is going to be a litmus test to 2019 elections . This election is a precursor to the 2019 elections and its success is very crucial to us. “The EU have been supporting INEC win voter education, how to encourage people with disabilities among others. “We have seen large turnout of people and the enthusiasm for people to elect a governor that can represent them well.

“I believe this election will be credible if it ends like this,” he said. Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ekiti State, Senator Ayo Arise has alleged multiple voting by suspected youth in some Voting points in Oye Local government area. Arise, who voted at his Ward 1 unit 5 Oye-Ekiti alleged that the youth are moving from one unit to another with different permanent voters card(PVC).

Responding to the allegation,the presiding officer in one of the unit, Sani Nafisat denied any cases of multiple voting. She said the card reader machine would not allow any form of multiple voting. A member of the state house of Assembly and PDP chieftain in Oleje-Ekiti, Dr. Samuel Omotosho dismissed the allegations of multiple voting. Omotosho,who disclosed that there are some areas where the card reader machine were malfunctioning commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

BREAKING NEWS : Card Reader Reject PDP’s Olusola Eleka, wife as they are Unable To Vote As Fails To Accredit Him

Professor Kolapo Eleka, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the EKiti State governorship election, is currently unable to cast his vote, as the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) reader failed at his polling booth.

correspondent at Ikere Ward 2 Unit 6 said upon arrival at the polling unit, Eleka made his way to the polling unit for accreditation but was unable to do so, as the card reader failed.

If this issue is not resolved, Eleka won’t be able to vote, as INEC rules state that all prospective voters must be accredited before they can vote.

However, Kayode Fayemi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), arrived at his polling unit 009, Ward 11 and was successfully accredited at Oye LGA at exactly at10:19 am in preparation to cast his vote.
