JUST IN: Arrested NURTW Boss ‘Names’ Sponsors Of Attack On Ondo Lawmakers

Confirming his release on Sunday, an official of the NURTW said Adebo was released after he was “thoroughly quizzed” over his role and involvement in the attacks on lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

The official, who preferred not to be named, explained that the NURTW boss confessed to leading members of the NURTW to the Assembly and mentioned the names of those who had been sponsoring him on such similar attacks in the state.

He revealed further that despite the release, the Ondo NURTW boss was also instructed to report back to the FCID on Monday in continuation of the case.

“He (Idajo) was released on Saturday after sleeping over at FCID office in Alagbon, Lagos where he spent one night following the petition written against him by some people in the state. The Police detectives interrogated, and asked him questions which were mainly on his role in the recent attack at the State House of Assembly,” the source said.

“In fact, he was faced with evidence — audio — on how he instructed his boys from the union to invade the House of Assembly and and kill anyone in sight. When he was shown the evidence, even with video and pictures of him and his boys destroying properties at the Assembly, he confessed the names of those who sent him and footed his bills for the attack.

“Already, he (Idajo) has mentioned the names of some politicians who have been sponsoring him, and four of them are close to the incumbent Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and one is a popular politician in Akure. I am aware he would report back to the FCID in Alagbon, Lagos for the continuation of the case and he is likely to go with two persons who are his boys and had also been fingered in the attack.”

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters learnt that there is palpable fear among members of the NURTW in the state following Adebo’s arrest by security operatives.

Some union members, particularly the executives who are very loyal to the NURTW boss, have already fled Ondo State over possible arrest by the Police on the ongoing case.

An source loyal to Adebo, who spoke to our correspondent on Sunday, said some of those implicated have also fled the state.

“Some of us fled because we heard the Police would surely come after us over this ongoing case and some other cases which include the attack on a radio broadcaster, who was almost lyched at the park by some thugs sent by Idajo.

“I was told that the Chairman (Idajo) was just confessing like a bird when he was threatened with jail terms at the FCID in Alagbon, Lagos where he has mentioned many names of those sponsoring him. Even, the Ondo State Chairman of the APC has been implicated in the case because there was consistent phone interaction between him and Idajo with some of the union boys.

“For me, I have been given the best advice which is to leave the state for now, and I know two others who have also fled because of the fear of an impending arrest. We cannot spend our Christmas and New Year in jail.”

Breaking News:Labour Party Presidential Candidate Steps Down And Endorsed President Buhari

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a frontline Presidential contender on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Sam Nwanti, has withdrawn from the presidential race in support of President Muhammadu Buhari re-election.

The American-based detective from Mbieri, in the Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo State dropped his ambition in an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri.

Nwanti disclosed that he withdrew from the race to boost the re-election bid of President Buhari in the 2019 elections, while he prepares for the 2023 presidential race.

“Today, I withdraw from contesting for the presidential race on the platform of Labour party and back to APC.

“I am back to APC to support President Buhari for his second term bid because he needs our support to get things aright once again. I will help All Progressives Congress and Buhari led administration fight corruption and as the only detective who is contesting in 2019, it may split the support of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he added.

He stressed that his withdrawal from the race is solely anchored on supporting President Buhari in fighting corruption in Nigeria for the second time

Breaking News:Nasarawa State Deputy Dumped APC To PDP (Photos)

As the 2019 general elections approach, a Deputy Speaker who worked for the victory of APC in 2015 has denounced the ruling party in Nigeria, and has since joined the opposition pdp party in Nasarawa state.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Rt. Hon. Barr. Bala Rabo Ayaga, Deputy Speaker, Nasarawa State House Assembly defected to PDP with his large number of supporters. He claims that the APC was no longer a party that could lead Nigeria and Nigerians to the promise land. He added that the APC as a party they had tirelessly supported and worked for, performed far below their expectations.

Hon. Ayaga also made it known that, PDP of yesterday was ‘better than APC of today, adding that the PDP of today is more organised and well grounded to take over the leadership of the nation since APC has woefully failed’ .For these reasons and so many reasons that time could not permit them to speak out at the time they were been received, have prompted them to return to PDP the rightful place they belong to.

Among the key personalities who joined him to denounce APC were Hon. Labi Osugebo, former deputy chairman Kokona LGA, Alh. Kanko Madage Bayero, Alh. Dauda Odumagbe, Hon. Musa Inaloko, a one time commissioner with the Nasarawa State Government, Alh. Suleiman Wabai, an APC House of Assembly aspirant.

Others were, Hon. Akajo A. Gyara, Hon. Alh. Usman Isa, Alh. Dauda Osaga, former DPM Agwada Development Area, and over five thousand of their supporters from APC from Agwada Development Area.

Hon. Prince Francis Enokela Orogu, the state PDP Chairman who received them, gave them the assurance on behalf of the entire PDP family in Nigeria, that they have been accepted as members. He equally guaranteed them of working together to the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Coquettes Like Hon. Nonso Eze Hiding behind Engr Arthur Eze to perpetuate the stranglehold On Dunukofia politics

Coquettes like Nonso Eze are hiding behind Engr Arthur to perpetuate their stranglehold on Dunukofia Constituency and it is a sad development. Like grand masters of the game , they coquettishly orchestrate a back-and-forth movement between hope and frustration to the bewilderment of the masses.

They (Nonso and his cohorts) bait with promise of reward, the hope of physical pleasure, happiness, fame by association, power-all of which , however, proves elusive; yet this only makes their targets pursue them more.

Coquettes appear self-sufficient. They do not need you, they seem to say, and their narcissism proves devilishly attractive.

You want to conquer them but they hold the cards. The strategy of the coquette is never to offer total satisfaction.

Imitate the alternating heat and coolness of the coquette and you will keep the seduced at their heels.

A famous author of a classical book assisted me in describing who Nonso Eze is and his mission to use the influence of Engr Arthur Eze to destroy Dunukofia Constituency.

Let me ask, who got Hon Nonso Eze deluded that he won the APGA primary election in Dunukofia Constituency? What is his motivation for fighting our great party APGA and the entire Constituency?

I am making it clear to both friend and foe I am number one fan of Engr Arthur Eze; I do celebrate him often on Social Media. A man with a golden heart, down to earth and humane should not get it wrong when it comes to Dunukofia affairs all because of some disgruntled psychophants in the guise of his political advisers.

Engr Arthur Eze is adored today by these elements because of his generous disposition and content laden pocket. He now becomes their parvus deus ( small chi) because they delight in deceptive milking.

Let me inform our great man, Engr Arthur Eze, to note that these men of Lilliput, these political jobbers are all wolves in sheep’s clothing bent on spoiling your good name and image.

These men fight Hon. Law Ezeudu because he bluntly refused to share constituency money to them. As the chief whip of the State Assembly our law maker chose to embark on laudable and verifiable projects spiced with practical attention to human development in every town within the constituency.

In consequence and in total recognition of his developmental strides, the entire APGA Dunukofia elected him as their candidate for Anambra State House of Assembly, Dunukofia Constituency, 2019.

One good turn, they say, deserves another.

Press Release:PDP Holds Presidential Campaign Rally In Sokoto On Monday

…To Focus on Issues, Widen Consultations

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says its Monday’s North West Presidential Zonal Rally billed for Sokoto, Sokoto State, will focus on issues as well as address the concerns, plights, fears and aspirations of Nigerians in the geo-political zone, in line with the policy document of its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The PDP Presidential campaign will use the rally to touch base with leaders in the geo-political zone on further consultations on the national consensus to rescue our nation from the misrule of the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency and the dysfunctional All Progressives Congress (APC).

The campaign notes that the North west bears heavy imprints of neglect by President Buhari’s administration, adding that the President and the APC cannot point to any key development project articulated and completed by it in the last three and half years, despite the huge resources it claims to have channeled to the zone.

The campaign revealed that the zone is hugely disappointed in President Buhari, who had failed to fulfill any of his 2015 campaign promises even as it is piqued by his 2019 ‘next level’ campaign mantra which shows Mr. President’s lack of remorse for his failures.

It notes that the North West zone has completely lost confidence in President Buhari and is now rallying with the PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who has demonstrated an unrivaled competence and political will to reposition the nation and return her to the path of national cohesion and economic prosperity.

Finally the campaign appreciates the entire people of the North West geo-political zone and Nigerians in general for the unprecedented outpouring of goodwill, prayers and support for Atiku Abubakar, since his popular emergence as the party’s Presidential candidate.

‘I Will Defeat Sanwo-olu Flat In 2019’ – Agbaje Boasts

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship Candidate in Lagos, State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, says he will beat All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, flat in the 2019 election.

Agbaje expressed the confidence while addressing his supporters at the formal declaration of his ambition in Lagos.

He said 2019 would be a year of victory for him, after two failed attempts.

Lagos is a stronghold of the APC and though over 40 candidates from different parties are eying the state’s governorship seat in 2019, APC’s Sanwo-olu and PDP’s Agbaje are believed to be major contenders.

Agbaje promised to shock the APC and its candidate in the election.

“I will beat the APC in 2019; mark my words, I will not only beat them, I will beat them flat. I am sure of winning because Lagosians are behind me.

“The support we were given in 2015 is still there, intact. We will expand on it in 2019. I am in the race because I am passionate about Lagos.

“I hear them calling me their customer because of my past attempts, but I tell them, the customer is King. By next year, we shall know the results. But I can assure you once again that I will beat them flat,” he said.

The governorship candidate said the APC had failed the state in all the ramifications, calling on residents to vote out the party for lack of progress.

He said he had the capacity, the experience and sincerity to deliver the Lagos of everybody’s dream, if elected.

APGA DISOWNS JERRY OBASI AND HIS COHORT.

The attention of the National Leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been drawn to some Media reports doing the round, emanating from a so called Press Conference by one Chief (Deacon) Jerry Obasi and Alhaji A. D. Musa, claiming to be respectively the National Chairman and National Secretary of an imaginary faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, called Authentic-APGA. calling on the National Chairman and the National Leader of APGA to resign their positions forthwith, among other uncomplimentary remarks and unfounded  insinuations.

However, ordinarily the party would have ignored their childish rantings, innuendos and shenanigans, since  both of them had been expelled from the party at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Awka, on December 21, 2016 for gross misconduct and anti-party activities, which had been their stock in trade over time.

There are no records anywhere of their readmission into the party neither do they hold any Executive positions to warrant the claim of the positions they ascribed to themselves. Their action was premeditated and targeted causing confusion and disaffection in the party for pecuniary gains. This is a practice they had been associated with at various times in the past long before their expusion.

The party calls on security agencies to  arrest and prosecute them immediately for impersonation and name-dropping.

PDP Campaign Council: Pressure On Wike To Rescind Resignation

Following the resignation of the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as the South-South zonal coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council yesterday, intense pressure has been mounted on him to rescind his decision, Sunday Sun authoritatively gathered.

Our sister publication, Saturday Sun, had broken the news that the Rivers governor would tender his letter of resignation yesterday, an action considered by many would cause a major upset to the presidential campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Sunday Sun reliably gathered that PDP bigwigs and the allies of the presidential candidate of the party had quickly reached out to Governor Wike, urging him to reconsider his stand for the interest of the party.

It was not certain yesterday whether Wike has accepted their pleas.

The Rivers governor was in October named zonal coordinator along side Ayo Fayose, Aminu Tambuwal, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Samuel Ortom, and Dave Umahi with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council.

Specifically, Governor Aminu Tambuwal is in charge of Northwest, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, Northeast; Governor Samuel Ortom, North-Central; Governor Dave Umahi, Southeast; Governor Nyesom Wike, South-South and former Governor Ayodele Fayose, Southwest.

Sunday Sun reliably gathered that Wike was angered by the way vital decisions and appointments were carried out without consultations of party leaders.

Malian Herdsmen In Sokoto, Not Jihadists – Police

The Police Command in Sokoto state on Saturday dispelled rumours of influx of Juhadists in the state

There had been reports of such influx in some social media, especially in the late hours of Friday.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Saturday in Sokoto.

Nwawe said, “our attention was drown toward a report that some unknown herdsmen were sighted in Gudu and Tangaza local government called Jahadists fully armed to destroy the peace in the area.

“The situation was misreported based on our intelligence report.

“The herdsmen sighted are reasonably believed to be Malians who reside in a forest in Niger Republic, sharing border with Gudu and Tangaza local government areas of the state.

“The herdsmen are annual visitors to the nearby forest bordering the two local governments with their cattle and always stayed in the forest in Niger Republic.

“Even though the number of their cattle increased exponentially this year to about 3,000 from the usual figures of less than 1000, it was discovered that they are not known to be violent.

“Moreover, they occasionally enter the villages in the two local governments to procure food and other essentials and retire back to the forest,” Nwawe said.

She called on the people living in the areas to remain calm and go on their normal business, assuring that police were always there to protect their lives and properties.

The spokesperson added that the situation of the areas remained peaceful and enjoined the people to always assist police with useful information that could lead to the success of the command in the state. (NAN)

Religious Leaders Kicked Against Security Levies On Churches, Mosques

Religious leaders have kicked against security levies imposed on churches and mosques by the Oyo State government, describing it as “unrealistic.”

The state government had during a security summit held on Tuesday announced that religious organisations were also included in security levies.

Churches and mosques, according to the Section 11(4) of the Security Trust Fund Law 2017 of the state, will pay between N20,000 and N60,000 yearly, depending on the size of the religious centre.

Apart from churches and mosques, manufacturing companies would also pay between N80,000 and N100,000 depending on their sizes while agricultural companies would pay N50,000.

Reacting to the levy, the Founder and Spiritual Head of Shafaudeen in Islam, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke, described the levy as “ ill-timed, exploitative and ungodly.”

He said: “The plan of government is ill-timed and wicked. Many people in mosques and churches are groaning under poverty and hunger. Salaries are not paid and the little they are paid are not enough to offset debts of believers in churches and mosques.”

Former President of Aladura Church of Nigeria, Primate Olapade Agoro, said churches and mosques should be exempted from the levy, as “religious organisations are not business outfits.”

The Oyo State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Benjamin Akanmu urged government to let the levies be minimal.

He said N20,000 might be difficult for churches with a few members to pay.

Catholic Bishop Demands Apology From FG, Amaechi Over Killings

Makurdi Diocese Catholic Bishop Most Reverend Wilfred Anagbe, has demanded an apology from the federal government, especially Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi for allegeldy attempting to change the narratives of the killing of two priests and 17 worshippers in Mbalom last April.

Speaking yesterday at St. Ignatius Quasi Parish Ukpo, Mbalom during a homily to mark the rite of atonement and purification of the community from the spilled blood, Anagbe insisted the killing was carried out by herdsmen.

Two catholic priests and 11 worshippers were killing by suspected Fulani herdsmen during mass in the parish.

The killings attracted national and international condemnation.

Anagbe maintained that survivors and witnesses were not in doubt the killers were herdsmen.

The Bishop alleged the government was using Christians including the minister, APC national chairman as well as presidential spokesman to change the true narrative on the killings. He noted that it was childish and hypocritical for people to insinuate Benue people or Christians were killing themselves.

He wondered if they were responsible for the killings in other states including Zamfara and Katsina.

He said herdsmen sent Rev. Fr. Felix Tyolaha packing from Yogbo in Guma Local Government Area before and he had to plead with him to come to Mbalom and serve only to be killed.

The Bishop stressed the changing narrative was an insult on the sensibilities of the Benue people and Tiv nation.

He urged politicians not sell the Tiv people for what he described as leftovers.

The Bishop offered special prayers at the spot where Father Tyolaha was killed before the celebration of mass.

Oshibote Emerged New OPC Leader As Fasheun Dies At 83

The Odua People’s Congress (OPC) yesterday got a new national president following the death of its founder and national president, Dr Frederick Fasheun.

The new president, Prince Oshibote Oodua, was announced at Century Hotel, Okota, Lagos, where members of the congress gathered in their numbers to mourn the passage of their former leader.

Dr. Fasheun died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH in the early hours of Saturday. According to the eldest child of the former OPC leader, Kayode Fasheun, the late OPC national president took ill briefly during the week before he

“He was sick for a short time and was taken to the hospital on Wednesday and discharged on Thursday. But then, we had to take him back, he hadn’t left the hospital for too long before a little relapse so we he had to go back. He was admitted at the ICU. He later became stable and we thought he was going to survive. But around 1.00 am today we got the sad news that he couldn’t make it,” he said.

Describing him as a caring father who wanted the best for everybody, Kayodesaidhislate father didn’t show any premonition before his demise, saying his death was sudden and shocking to the family. “I know that he lost a younger brother in March this year, he was the closest person to him but I don’t know whether that was a factor or it was old age. In fact he was very fine the whole of last week and the week before,” he recalled.

According to the young Fasheun, the late OPC leader is survived by a wife and six children; five sons and a daughter.

The Personal Assistant to the late national leader and founder of the group, Otunba Tunde Thompson, who also expressed shock at Dr. Fasheun’s demise said although the late OPC leader was 83 years old, he was still active, a development which he said made his death more surprising to the members of the group.

“Baba was 83 years-old going to 84, but be who he was, you either find him in his hotel, at his hospital or at project sites. So, we didn’t believe anything would happen to him at this point in time. The doctor advised him to rest and he was at home for two days and that was it,” he said.

Giving more insight on the emergence of Prince Oshibote as the new national president of the group, Otunba Thomson said, “ the Oodua People’s Congress, being a militant group has its rules that within the next 24 hours of the demise of its leader, a new leader must emerge and that was what they have done today. This, coupled with the instruction laid down by Dr. Frederick Fasheun that somebody must succeed him immediately, he had been in consultation with executive members on whom to succeed him and that is what has been done today. They have chosen Prince Oshinbote as Dr. Fasheun’s successor. They appointed him today and he has been shown to members of the sect who are present here today.

Although, Oshibote was not the highest-ranking chieftain of the group, Sunday Sun gathered that his emergence did not come as a major surprise to members of the congress.

EU Committed £100m To Nigeria Elections

The European Union (EU) has revealed that it has committed over £100 million to the conduct of important elections in Nigeria from the Fourth Republic in 1999 to date.

EU’s Electoral Administration and Communication expert, Manji Wilson, made this disclosure while presenting a paper: “Overview of the EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria,” at the two-day capacity building programme for journalists organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

He explained that the funds were spent on providing technical assistance for the elections.

He, however, warned that the body has no preferred candidate among all the presidential candidates in the 2019 general elections, insisting that the EU has no iota of influence on who wins the elections.

He decried the outrageous amounts most of the political parties were charging candidates for the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, regretting that the conduct had denied Nigerian youths active participation in the 2019 elections. He regretted that out of thousands of them seeking elective positions, only 219 eventually got the nomination of their parties for the 2019 general elections.
