Thanks you all, let’s help people to succeed in life, let’s give back to the society.
Even after once benefiting from billionaire celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji’s wealth, during her incarceration in Port-Harcourt, controversial blogger cum journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, has finally opened up on why she dislikes the blogger who recently welcomed her first child in Atlanta.
She made the revelation on twitter when a fan inquired to know why she is always at the gossip blogger’s throat.
Linda Ikeji on the hospital bed in Atlanta The controversial blogger who spares nothing whenever she means to drag anyone in the mud, used unprintable words in explaining why she dislikes Linda Ikeji. In her defence, she alleged that Linda had been responsible for a misfortune her younger sister suffered in 2006. Recall that Vanguard Ripples reported that the controversial blogger accused Linda Ikeji of being deceitful about her pregnancy.
She alleged that Linda was never pregnant but paid a surrogate mother 1.8M for the child. “Sincerely, I have been respecting myself but I think I need to fill you guys into this. Linda Ikeji got pregnant using ‘donor sperm’ because she started getting scared of menopause.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Nigerian author, has expressed how saddened she felt about the backlash her question to Hillary Clinton, an American politician, generated on social media, particularly among Nigerians.
Speaking to a group of young Nigerians during a hangout session in Lagos on Saturday, Adichie said she was surprised about the reaction the question generated, noting that it made her sad seeing her parents read horrible things Nigerians said about her.
In an interview with Hilary Clinton, the author, whose work has gained recognition, including winning the Orange Prize award, asked the female politician why she had described herself first as a ‘wife’ before other things on her social media bio.
This question, which Adichie said she considered harmless, brought backlash from Nigerians, including celebrities, many of which were premised on the notion that the reference in her question was a negative example for thousands of Nigerian women who follow the author religiously.
Adiche said she felt sad seeing her parents read the negative comments thrown at her. “Watching my mother, I felt close to tears,” she said.
Adichie, whose clapback at a French journalist — who had asked her if there were libraries in Nigeria — warmed her to the hearts of many, said the episode made her begin to rethink how she felt about Nigeria.
“When I got back to Lagos and there is just all of this noise and apparently it’s just all of ugliness, people said to me: ‘they are writing public letters to you. They said you are a demon; that you want to break up marriages…’, all kinds of things. I felt… Let me be honest, that is the first time I really started to rethink how I felt about Nigeria. I have never done that before.
“Until then, I had been a very dutiful daughter of Nigeria and I am still at that phase where I am thinking about how I really, really feel about Nigeria.”
She however explained she had asked the question for political reasons.
She said: “Quite frankly, the reason I asked that is that it was a political thing, particularly in the contest of Hilary Clinton — a woman who had to change her name and take her husband’s name because people would not vote for her husband if she had kept her name. A woman that for many Americans they still need to see a woman in domestic terms before they can concede a little power to her politically. We don’t think that of men.”

Popular Blogger Ono Bello has called for a regulatory structure in the country to checkmate malicious content and other unprofessional ethics from online media platforms. Bello, founder of onobello.com made said this in an interview on Tuesday in Abuja. “With the way things are going on now, I think it will be a great idea if the online communities can have a body or a structure to put in place a code of ethic. “We need to come together to create a structure so that if there is any information that is posted and is false, the public knows the body to approach and lay complaints. “I think we need to have a similar body like the NUJ; the online communities needs to have one body where we can be able to regulate our activities,’’ she reiterated. On posting obnoxious materials on the internet especially on social media, the blogger said the fact that individuals have accounts does not give them licence to post everything online. She explained that whatever anyone post could go a long way either in making or breaking someone adding that social media users should maintain ethical conduct at their individual levels. “For example before you post anything online, you need to consider the feelings of others; and if you want to post some sensitive information, you need to warn viewers about it. “If you are going to post pictures of dead bodies of humans on social media, you need to warn people before you let them see it. “This is because people might just be going about their normal business on social media and the next thing is to see something horrible and it affects them negatively. “So we need to be principled and have some certain rules as human beings; you need to be kind to humanity,’’ Bello stressed. She emphasised that the rush to break stories online should not lead to damaging someone’s reputation or bringing a personality down adding that her online magazine published correct and authentic news. “We have not had issues where we are taken to court for reporting fake news because we always do our background checks before we post any news.’’ She however said, as a blogger, managing information was not easy, because one need to be on ground, network with people and make calls to get the sense of the stories and the sources.

This feat made ABS the first state owned Broadcasting Agency to attain digital status in Nigeria. “We have set aside N50m for any script that passed through proper scrutiny for film production. Anambra is the birth place of Nollywood, and we must encourage it”, Gov. Obiano said.
He recalled that over 10000 youths had been trained in various skills in the state and empowered with seed money to enable them practice their trade.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the ABS Managing Director and Rector of the Academy, Nze Uche Nworah appreciated the governor for his efforts in repositioning the Agency. He said, “currently, the Station could be viewed on Terrestrial, Startimes and Metrodigital respectively”. The Academy took off offers a three month intensive training on filmmaking, directing, Photography, Cenamatography, Costume making , among others, took off with 35 students, with 27 graduating on schedule.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Chief C-Don Adinuba thanked Gov. Obiano for his all round giant strides in the state saying that Anambra is truly the LIGHT OF THE NATION. “What is happening in Anambra is akin to what obtains in California, USA,” Adinuba said if California were to be a country, it would be the world’s sixth largest economy, with her success anchored on creatively developing solutions to the world’s surging problems and needs. “Anambra is doing same now. Anambra has the best of actors and actresses in Africa and we must develop these potentials to the fullest.” He used the occasion to inform ndi Anambra that by October, 2018, ABS will be launching her DSTv channel.
In his thank you remarks, the Veteran Nollywood Legend, Chief Pete Edochie who retired as the ABS ‘Managing Director some two decades back, appreciated Gov. Obiano calling him “Aesthetically Original governor” of Anambra state.
Researchers have found evidence of an existing body of liquid water on Mars.
What they believe to be a lake sits under the planet’s south polar ice cap, and is about 20km (12 miles) across.
Previous research found possible signs ofintermittent liquid water flowing on the martian surface, but this is the first sign of a persistent body of water on the planet in the present day.
Lake beds like those explored by Nasa’s Curiosity rover show water was present on the surface of Mars in the past.
However, the planet’s climate has since cooled due to its thin atmosphere, leaving most of its water locked up in ice.
The result is exciting because scientists have long searched for signs of present-day liquid water on Mars, but these have come up empty or yielded ambiguous findings. It will also interest those studying the possibilities for life beyond Earth – though it does not yet raise the stakes in the search for biology.
The discovery was made using Marsis, a radar instrument on board the European Space Agency’s (Esa) Mars Express orbiter.
“It’s probably not a very large lake,” said Prof Roberto Orosei from the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, who led the study.
Marsis wasn’t able to determine how thick the layer of water might be, but the research team estimate that it is a minimum of one metre.
“This really qualifies this as a body of water. A lake, not some kind of meltwater filling some space between rock and ice, as happens in certain glaciers on Earth,” Prof Orosei added.
How was it found?
Radar instruments like Marsis examine the surface and immediate subsurface of the planet by sending out a signal and examining what is bounced back.
The continuous white line at the top of the radar results above marks the beginning of the South Polar Layered Deposit; a filo pastry-like accumulation of water ice and dust.
Beneath this, researchers spotted something unusual 1.5km under the ice.
“In light blue you can see where the reflections from the bottom are stronger than surface reflection. This is something that is to us the tell tale sign of the presence of water,” says Prof Orosei.
What does this mean for life?
Nothing definitive. Yet.
Dr Manish Patel from the Open University explained: “We have long since known that the surface of Mars is inhospitable to life as we know it, so the search for life on Mars is now in the subsurface.
“This is where we get sufficient protection from harmful radiation, and the pressure and temperature rise to more favourable levels. Most importantly, this allows liquid water, essential for life.”
This principle of following the water is key to astrobiology – the study of potential life beyond Earth.
So while the findings suggest water is present, they don’t confirm anything further.
“We are not closer to actually detecting life,” Dr Patel told BBC News, “but what this finding does is give us the location of where to look on Mars. It is like a treasure map – except in this case, there will be lots of ‘X’s marking the spots.”
The water’s temperature and chemistry could also pose a problem for any potential martian organisms.
In order to remain liquid in such cold conditions (the research team estimate between -10 and -30 Celsius where it meets the ice above), the water likely has a great many salts dissolved in it.
“It’s plausible that the water may be an extremely cold, concentrated brine, which would be pretty challenging for life,” explained Dr Claire Cousins, an astrobiologist from the University of St Andrews, UK.
While its existence provides a tantalising prospect for those interested in the possibility of past or present life on Mars, the lake’s characteristics must first be verified by further research.
“What needs to be done now,” explained Dr Matt Balme from the Open University, “is for the measurements to be repeated elsewhere to look for similar signals, and, if possible, for all other explanation to be examined and – hopefully – ruled out.
“Maybe this could even be the trigger for an ambitious new Mars mission to drill into this buried water-pocket – like has been done for sub-glacial lakes in Antarctica on Earth,” he added.
If heaven is where Pastor Adeboye, Kumuyi, David Oyedepo and all other religious leaders and people will go to after death, then I reject it with every fibre of my being. Heaven will sure be a very boring and unbearable place to be in, full of fáke people and extortionists and heartless people. I want to be where Fela is and would be happy to see Davido, Wizkid, Tekno, etc, join me there.
The thing about me is I don’t ever want to be like you. You don’t believe that you can live the way that I do. Seriously, you act like life’s a recital from the bible and once you reach the end you won’t know where the time goes. I’m living through my flows so please enjoy the show. No Jesus above tells me how to live my life, I do this for me, am not ashamed, I do not hide. I already have a God that turns me on with reckless abandon. He’s the God that I see and believe in and his name is Emeka😘
So Save your prayers for your mothers, I’m doing fine, the last thing on my mind is the afterlife. The time is now, I live in the moment. I only think with logic, so keep your fucking preaching, pity and emotions. I can never be broken even if I’m lost in the ocean, I still won’t give a fuck where I’m supposedly going, ighotago? For real, I don’t want to spend eternity with any of you. Death is the only thing promised to us at birth. Save your ‘may God have mercy on you’ for your sisters that are doing abortions, for your brothers raping kids, for small girls with big God knacking other women’s husbands, for your pastors and your village people 😏
There’s no time to waste once you enter this World, If you ask me, there is no afterlife and when I die, I will be satisfied with who I am and what I leave behind!
Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, has been appointed as a Director on the board of Twitter Inc.
She will be replacing Marjorie Scardino, the former Chief Executive of Pearson.
According to Omod Kordestani, the Executive Chairman of Twitter, Okonjo-Iweala was appointed alongside Robert Zeollick, the eleventh President of the world bank, as independent directors on Twitter’s board.
Kordestani said: “Ngozi and Bob are distinguished leaders with unparallelled global perspective and policy expertise.
“We are confident they will be incredible assets to Twitter as we continue to focus on driving transparency and making Twitter a safer, healthier place for everyone who uses our service.”
Similarly, Chief Executive Director of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, tweeted: “We’re adding Ngozi (@NOIweala) and Bob (@authorzoellick) to the Twitter board. Welcome! Sadly we’re also saying farewell to our friend Marjorie (@marjscar). She’s been an amazing advocate for journalists everywhere, and pushed us constantly to better inform people. Thank you M.”
Acknowledging the appointment, Okonjo-Iweala, a four-term minister of Finance in Nigeria, said she looks forward to working with the other directors.
“Twitter is a powerful platform that continues to be used as a strong connector for the global community, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team,” she said.
“As we strive to build a better world for tomorrow, Twitter can amplify messages and drive critical conversations around today’s most important issues. I look forward to partnering with Twitter’s talented directors and leadership team as we work to leverage the power of Twitter for good.”
Okonjo-Iweala’s appointment by Twitter is a breath of fresh air from the barrage of accusations and counter-accusations buzzing around her for her activities as FInance Minister at a period the country enjoyed oil boom.
She recently released a memoir of events during her tenure, titled ‘Fighting Corruption is Dangerous: The Story Behind The Headlines’, followed by various media reviews of her performances as Finance Minister under three past presidents: Olusegun Obasanjo, Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.
Jonathan has since congratulated his former minister on the new appointment, saying: “I am not surprised that Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has been appointed into the board of Twitter.”
“If anyone merits such an appointment, it is definitely a woman who helped her nation manage its finances most prudently and was instrumental to pulling many millions out of poverty. The clergyman said the app which possesses the basic features of other social media platforms has extra modules for marriage courses, television and radio channels, as well as inter-religious dialogues among users. Oluoma noted that while the new social media app was designed to accommodate all prospective users, special technologies have been deployed to filter hate speeches and inciting comments while fostering religious harmony among users. He said:
“There is religious freedom and everybody has the license to promote his own religious beliefs without hurting others. So it is for such reason that the “Wow Catholic” which is the first social media app of its kind was developed. “Though the app is for Christians, we have modules for exchanges with people of other faiths.
“You will also not find hate speeches and inciting comments that define the regular social media platforms, because the system will filter whatever is posted for the public domain.”

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that he is ready to take a wife now. The 61-year-old billionaire business mogul made the revelation in a recent interview with Financial times.
According to the businessman who has been divorced twice, says his busy schedule has prevented him from having any romance in his life. He said it wouldn’t make sense to be involved with someone when you have no time being with that person.
“I’m not getting younger. Sixty years is no joke. But it doesn’t make sense to go out and get somebody if you don’t have the time. Right now, things are really, really very busy, because we have the refinery, we have the petrochemicals, we have the fertilizer, we have the gas pipeline.”
Nigerian frontline novelist, and feminist icon, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has said she felt sorry for men because they(men) cannot conceive and experience the benefits that come with being a mother. The celebrated novelist said this in an interview with Vulture, where she also opened up about what having a child meant to her and the impact it had on her art. She said that having a child interrupts her writing to an extent but also opens up a new range of emotions that can inspire art which men can’t experience. “I used to think I wouldn’t be a good mother because I was so dedicated to my art,” the ‘Americanah’ writer said. “I said to myself, I have nephews and nieces who I adore, and I helped raise them, so those will be my children. That’s what I thought for a long time, because I felt that I couldn’t be true to both my art and my child. “Getting older. I like to joke and say that you’re ready [to have a child] when your body isn’t ready, and when your body is ready, you’re not mentally ready. “I guess you have the best eggs when you’re, like, 22, but at 22 you don’t even know yourself. “Then when you’re 38 and know yourself, your eggs are not the best quality. Anyway, we’ll talk about eggs another time.” “But my baby happened, and it’s important to talk honestly about this, because having her changed a lot,” she said. “Having a child gets in the way of writing. It does. You can’t own your time the way you used to. “But the other thing that motherhood does — and I kind of feel sorry for men that they can’t have this — is open up a new emotional plane that can feed your arts”
WhatsApp has announced the launch of a new feature globally that will highlight when a message has been forwarded and not composed by the sender.
The messaging application made the move public on Tuesday through its official blog following calls from various parts of the world, including India, to tackle the spread of fake news. In the statement, the platform, owned by Facebook, said, “Starting today, WhatsApp will indicate which messages you receive, have been forwarded to you. “This extra context will help make one-on-one and group chats easier to follow,” WhatsApp said in a blog.
“It also helps you determine if your friend or relative wrote the message they sent or if it originally came from someone else.
“To see this new forwarded label, you need to have the latest supported version of WhatsApp on your phone,” WhatsApp added. Recently, while replying a notice by the Indian government to take immediate measures to prevent misuse of its platform, WhatsApp had said that it was testing a new label that highlights when a message has been forwarded. “This could serve as an important signal for recipients to think twice before forwarding messages.
“Because it lets a user know if content they received was written by the person they know or a potential rumour from someone else,” it had said. In its blog, the instant messaging application added, “WhatsApp cares deeply about your safety. “We encourage you to think before sharing messages that were forwarded. As a reminder, you can report spam or block a contact in one tap and can always reach out to WhatsApp directly for help.
” The company had last month also announced “unrestricted monetary awards” for research on spread of misinformation on its platform to address the problem. (NAN)
Nnewi Afia olu festival appears to be the only surviving traditional festivals among the 14 yearly festivals peculiar to Nnewi. It is a festival designed to mark the end of the year’s farming season and also offer thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest which is done across various communities in Igbo land. It comes up in the Month of August or early September.
Although little documentary evidence exist about the origin of Nnewi Afia olu festival, however it is believed that Nnewi Afia Olu festival started with Uruagu and Nnewichi owning to their contiguity to Ojoto and Ichi, historically, Ojoto and Ichi started the festival before Nnewi, since then, it has remained part of Nnewi custom and tradition.
In the past, the festival was celebrated independently by the four quarters, but as events unfolded, the desire to come together to evolve greater strength, love and unity became generally accepted.
However, it appears that the festival has become a shadow of it’s past, this is due to the poor participation by indigenes of the community and also the inefficiency of the organizers. In terms of content as it concerns activities, it is no where near that of other major festivals of large towns like Nnewi. The festival has become dominated by non-indigenes which have added little or no value to it.
The Afia olu festival which usually held at Nkwo triangle which is the rallying point for all the people living in Nnewi is no longer available as the state government in collaboration with few individuals have taken over the land for a commercial venture.
There is urgent need to rebrand Nnewi Afia olu festival to ensure it’s sustenance in other to preserve, promote and project Nnewi rich cultural heritage.
The rebranding and repackaging of Nnewi Afia Olu festival will increase participation and attract tourist from other parts of Nigeria and in the world.
Nnewi Afia Olu should grow beyond a situation whereby masquerades are seen flogging people or each other. It should enter into a full rounded entertainment rich in cultural display, dance, singing, different kinds of masquerade parades, theatrical performance etc.
To rebrand Nnewi Afia Olu festival, there is a need to set up a committee to facilitate the planning, this committee should be made of men and women of ideas and integrity across board.
The Committee should focus on the following objectives;
1. To organize the festival through Public-Private Partnership arrangement. They should reach out to corporate organisations, Nnewi billionaires and millionaires, government agencies and culturally inclined groups of individuals to join us in the process of rejuvenation of our cultural heritage.
2. Since Nkwo Nnewi triangle which is a holy ground handed to us by our ancestors is no longer available (Ka Chineke mere anyi ebere) they should carefully find a befitting arena to celebrate the event.
3. A conference or summit should always be organized in one the conference centers in Nnewi during the festival. The Conference will provide a platform to
facilitate discussions around the history of Nnewi people across the centuries, our identity, ideology, through the sharing of experiences, research and ideas. It will also open discussion on the need to reposition some of our cultural practices and the need to document and preserve the history, heritage and culture of Nnewi People.
The conference should also discuss Nnewi economy, political, social development and governance.
It should also feature exhibition of historical artefacts.
The conference should be attended by Nnewi historians, development experts, entrepreneurs, local stakeholders, professionals, archivists and the general public.
4. They should raise the public knowledge of Nnewi Afia Olu festival through increased publicity and press conference before and after the festival.
5. The football competition in memory of our great heroes should be expanded to accommodate all the villages that make up the four quarters in Nnewi.
6. They should introduce cultural pageantry with full participation of Male and female of the four quarters. This will produce Mr. and Mrs. Nnewi.
7. Free medical outreach should also be introduced.
8. Cultural dancing and Singing(Nnewi Songs) competition should be considered.
9. Award Night or Award day will feature different categories of award to Nnewi sons and daughter who are doing well in different sectors of the economy.
Award and Prizes should be given to winners of the pageantry, dancing, singing and football competition and also the most colourful cultural troupe,
The award day or night should features different kind of activities like music concert and the rest.
10. The committee should review critically the issue of masquerading, part of what has have caused poor participation in Nnewi Afia Olu festival is the issue of masquerading. During the festival, most churches organize programmes on all the days of the festival to ensure that members do not participate in the festival.
Personally for me, contrary to religious belief, the Nnewi Afia Olu (New yam festival) has nothing to do with diabolic practices. It is simply the Igbo traditional way of thanking God for a bountiful harvest.
11. They should also introduce fundraising to facilities community development and also sponsor children of the poor in the town in Education through scholarship award.
12. The festival should be rounded up with an Interdenominational Service of Thanksgiving and Prayers for Nnewi in a neutral ground.
Nnewi Afia Olu if rebranded willl attract people from all over the world to our Nnewi, the festival provide a platform to call home Nnewi sons and daughters abroad to renew and reaffirm the bond of brotherhood, it also brings to mind a sense of belonging and to plan for community development.
The festival will also generate business opportunities especially for small medium enterprises.
